Totally reliable You attach it to a 2.5m wooden stave (I used ash). You then need a 5 metre line to attach to your forward cleat or windlass/ Samson post. I used Spectra. All you do is hook the hoop on the buoy and then give a sharp tug on the boat hook. The bronze fitting falls away from the wooden stave leaving unattached to the buoy. You can then take your time later to make fast properly either by dinghy or using another ‘moor & hook’ type of boat hook from the bows…..easy and 100% reliable.
