Description
The image is of the Super 50 hatch.
Houdini have been building quality hatches for many years now. Commonly fitted to many UK built boats, they are rugged, reliable and well made. The also have a considerable cost advantage over their competitors. The standard specification:
Installation All hatches must be fitted to a flat surface and bedded down on a good quality non-setting mastic. The outer flange is drilled and countersunk for no.8 self-tapping screws or M5 machine screws. Inner backing trim Inner backing trim for the deckhead is not necessarily required if the hatch can be screwed securely into the deck. If an inner backing trim is used there are three types available.
Type 1 Flat inner backing trim The flat trim is supplied with M5, A2 machine screw and inter screws (capped nuts) for fixing. These screws require holes to be drilled in the correct position when fitting. The trim is 3mm thick, is shaped and is cut to fit.
Type 2 Box Inner Backing Trim The box trim is a complete unit ideal when fitting a replacement hatch. Screw self-tapping screws into the original holes through the deck and these will locate through the deck into the box trim in the correct position. The box trim is 10mm thick flattened tube.
Type 3 Trim Installation should be by experts only and for use on decks between 25mm and 75mm thick. The type 3 trim includes an aluminium collar to be cut to the correct deck thickness. Bolt holes are drilled prior to fixing with screws and inter screws.
