Description
Interprotect is a quick-drying, easy-to-apply two-pack epoxy primer for high-performance protection on all rigid substrates. Its two-component application gives excellent anti-corrosive and abrasion resistance properties and it can be used equally above or below the waterline. Not suitable for use below 5DegC. For detailed product information refer to www.yachtpaint.com.
Application Details:
For Lead application, rub down with an emery cloth or power wire brush. Degrease with Yacht Line Super Cleaner. Pre-prime with Etch Primer.
For Steel application, grit blast to Sa 2.5 to 3. An angle grinder can be used in small areas.
Aluminium above the waterline, clean and degrease, pre-prime with Etch Primer or alternatively mechanically abrade with aluminium-compatible sandpaper or low-pressure grit blast using aluminium oxide.
Below Waterline: Degrease and abrade or grit blast as above.
ZINC/GALVANISED STEEL: Degrease. Pre-prime with Etch Primer
If any filling is required use the appropriate product from the Interfill range, after the first coat of Interprotect has been applied/li
Ensure all dust is removed with a dust wipe before painting
Stir individual components thoroughly, add curing agent to the base, stir and leave for 10 minutes for bubbles to disperse/li
Apply the following number of coats: Steel/ Aluminium/ Alloy above 4, below 5, Lead 5, Wood 3
Stir well before use
Mix ratio is 3:1 (base: curing agent) by volume (as supplied)
For Max performance, the temperature should be above 10DegC
If Max overcoating time is exceeded, abrade thoroughly using 180-220 grade paper
Ideally should be applied to the bare substrate, but do not apply over conventional (one-pack) coatings/l
Application Details:
- Above and below the waterline
- Matt finish
- YTA061 Thinners No.7
- 1-5 coats by brush or roller depending on the substrate and use/li
- Brush, Roller application
- For wood application sand with 80-280 grade paper depending on the smoothness required.
- Remove oil from oily woods like teak using thinners no.9.
- Change the rag frequently
