Description
The Mast Step is a lightweight and corrosion proof step which folds out of the way. Designed for climbing masts. Made from a combination of nylon and glass fibre which, together with its unique design, has a safe working load of 140kg.
The steps are UV stabilised meaning they will not deteriorate in sunlight, giving a secure and safe method of climbing a mast. They can also be used for; getting in or out of large lockers, lazerettes, climbing onto coach roofs or trailers. Each step weighs only 165grams and can be folded flat when not in use. The steps provide a secure foothold, but it is strongly recommended that a harness with a safety line attached is employed when climbing a mast.
The optimum distance between the steps is 375mm. There should be two opposite one another approximately 1200mm from the mast top. No steps are required at the spreaders.
To calculate the approximate number of steps required, take the length of the mast in metres and multiply by 2.5.

Mast Step Fitting Instructions
Caution: Do not neglect standard safety procedures always wear a harness and have a safety line securely attached. It is recommended that any operation is carried out by two people whenever working up a mast!
Fitting Instructions;;;;;
Measure section of mast requiring steps. The optimum distance between the steps is 375mm. There should be two fitted opposite each other approximately 1200mm from the top of the mast. (No steps are required at the spreaders);;;;;
Working upward, fit the steps on alternate sides of the mast, with 375mm space between steps, until the top position. This has steps on both sides.
Tape a sheet of sandpaper over the marked position.;;;;;
Sand the saddle section of the step until it fits the curvature of the mast.;;;;;
Mark the rivet holes on the mast and check them.;;;;;
Drill holes taking care not to damage wiring, ropes halyards etc. inside the mast. Before riveting, insert step into the saddle, insert the rivets into the rivets holes and check that the steps fit snugly against the mast.
Use blind monel or copper nickel rivets to suit the thickness of your mast, smeared with a suitable corrosion protection paste such Duralac and rivet into place.;;;;;
Check each step to ensure it is secure.
If in doubt consult with a suitable professional. It is recommended that a suitable professional fit the mast step Limited Warranty In the event manufacturing defects are detected within six months of purchase, the mast step will be replaced free of charge. Liability is limited to the reimbursement cost of the mast step. All other warranties are expressly disclaimed especially the fixing of the mast step to the mast. It is recommended that a suitable professional is employed to fit these mast steps. The Mast Step is suitable for one person only to a maximum load of 140kg (310 lbs)
