Description
The Mk 15 Master Sextant from Davis has professional quality specifications and has been thoroughly tested both at the equator and north pole. A lightweight, tradition sextant, it has large, easily adjustable mirrors made of instrument quality glass with; salt spray resistant backing. Both mirrors have protective housings and the horizon mirror is half silvered with no tools required for adjustment. The body is made of a tough, weather resistant plastic.
A sextant has many fascinating uses, not least the means to navigate without modern technology. From readings it is possible to derive your position by latitude and longitude, the passage of the sun, the local time, your position related to others and with flashing mirrors it is possible to communicate by Morse code, if you know it, with those out of voice reach.
The Davis Master Sextants (Mark 15 and Deluxe Mark 25), both feature the following professional specifications
