Description
The Weems and Plath hand bearing compass is specifically designed for use in the southen hemisphere by compensating for the dip. Housed in a bright and sturdy protective rubber case, this portable compass is ideal for sailors and small boat operators. Easy to read and accurate to within 1 degree, it provides two ways of determining a heading; by looking down the compass and reading the angle with the magnifying lens or by holding it near to the eye and reading down the line of sight. The two coloured photo luminescent card is graduated every 1 degree and numbered in 5 degree intervals and is easily read with battery free illumination. The self charging photo luminescence is activated by placing the compass momentarily under bright light. A stable bearing is seen in the prism in perfect focus, both day and night. A handy neck/wrist lanyard allows you to keep the compass close at all times. A northern hemisphere version of this compass is also available (manufacturers part no 2005)
